History

The old church buildingGarthamlock, Ruchazie & Craigend East Parish Church was founded in 1955 as part of the Church of Scotland’s extension scheme to build new church buildings in the new housing schemes being built in the post-war drive for better houses. Our original building is pictured.

Over the years Garthamlock as an area has seen significant change, with new housing and schools. During the regeneration of the area, we remained very much part of the community. In the last few years as Community Facilities (or buildings) have closed we have seen an increase in use for community-based organisations.

Over the years we have built up partnerships with community groups, other churches in our area, local businesses and voluntary organisations.

We have served our community for over fifty years and look forward to doing so for many more years to come. Hospitality is our best quality here at Garthamlock, Ruchazie and Craigend and we regularly host events which involve Food, Fellowship & Fun.  A warm welcome is guaranteed!
